Montefiore Nyack Hospital and its Foundation has greatly benefited from Dr. Mitchell D. Cohn’s leadership and generosity for more than four decades. As Founder, CEO and President of Northeastern Anesthesia Services PC, Dr. Cohn and his team has provided comprehensive care for patients at Montefiore Nyack Hospital since 1984.

Dr. Cohn served as Director of Anesthesia for 20 years and was President of the medical staff twice. He was awarded Physician of the Year award by the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Medical Staff and served on both the Board of Trustees and Hospital Foundation Boards for many years. He has been instrumental in numerous hospital fundraising efforts including the lead sponsor of the Hospital’s annual golf tournament which has been going strong for 35 years. Most recently, Northeastern Anesthesia committed as the Event Underwriter of the Hospital’s 125th Anniversary Event on Thursday, September 30th, the highest level of commitment ensuring the success of this once in a lifetime event.

Dr. Cohn has worked hard to create a happy and healthy life for himself and his family. He believes that his tendency to give back has helped him achieve success, which has allowed him to give generously of his time, talent and wisdom. He and his wife Barbara have been married for 44 years and they have three children and eight grandchildren. Most of their leisure time is spent on their farm in Connecticut. Favorite activities include biking, golfing, horseback riding, and astronomy.

“It has become very apparent over these many years that philanthropy is absolutely essential to the success of our Hospital,” Dr. Cohn said. “I hope by way of example that I can motivate others to join me in the continued support of Montefiore Nyack.”
