Volunteer Spotlight: Jan Valentine

Meet Montefiore Nyack Volunteer Jan Valentine, a talented musician who has been generously donating her time and talent since 2019. Jan plays her harp and provides beautiful, therapeutic music for Hospital staff, patients and their families.

During the height of the COVID pandemic, Jan set up her harp across the street from the hospital to play for staff and help them get through some of the toughest times. She is a Certified Clinical Musician with a 50-year career as a professional singer and pipe organist.

Jan combines her experience as a trained Hospital Chaplin, Spiritual Director, Retreat Leader, and Musician to provide bedside and beyond therapeutic Harp for Healing to help relieve anxiety and promote relaxation.

When she is not volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four cats, reading, and creating collages.

What a treasure Jan is, and we are so grateful to have her! It is support like this from the community that allows the Hospital to provide exceptional programs and outstanding patient experiences.
