Donor Spotlight: In Memory of Denis Troy

The Montefiore Nyack Hospital community joins the Town of Orangetown and Rockland County in mourning the loss of Denis Troy, a dedicated public servant, community advocate and former member of the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Board of Trustees.

Denis served on the hospital’s Board of Trustees from 2017 to 2023, contributing his leadership and insight as a member of the Technology and Marketing Committees. During his time with the hospital, Denis was a familiar and welcoming presence at both hospital and Foundation events and remained a steadfast supporter of the health and well-being of our community.

His commitment to public service was extraordinary. Denis served as Deputy Town Supervisor for the Town of Orangetown, a former Rockland County Legislator and a 20-year member of the Orangetown Town Board. Through these roles, he helped guide the town through years of growth and change with thoughtful leadership and a deep sense of responsibility to the residents he served.

Denis’ impact extended well beyond Town Hall. He was actively involved with many local organizations and initiatives, including Camp Venture, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 3, Pearl River Little League, American Legion Post 329 and Piermont PAL. A strong believer in the power of youth sports and community recreation, Denis was instrumental in supporting opportunities for young people throughout Orangetown.

In recognition of his lasting contributions, the Town Board voted in December 2025 to rename the recreational facility on Old Orangeburg Road the Denis Troy Athletic Complex, honoring his unwavering belief in creating spaces where children and families can gather, grow and thrive.

A proud Bronx native, Denis moved to Orangetown in 1980, where he built a life rooted in service and community engagement. His leadership, kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Denis will be deeply missed by many throughout Rockland County, and we remain grateful for his service to Montefiore Nyack Hospital and the community he cared for so deeply.
