Volunteer Spotlight: Honoring the Life and Legacy of Ruth Wilson

It is with great sadness and deep gratitude that we honor the life of Ruth Wilson, a treasured volunteer and the heart of the Westchester-Rockland Chapter of Project Linus. Ruth’s legacy is woven—quite literally—into every handmade blanket she lovingly crafted for children in need.

For years, Ruth dedicated her time and extraordinary talent to providing warmth and comfort to the most vulnerable among us. Thanks to her unwavering devotion, the Westchester-Rockland Chapter has donated more than 20,000 blankets to organizations across our region, including Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

Ruth had a special place in her heart for our littlest patients. Whether it was a child in the Pediatric Emergency Department or a newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Ruth made sure each one received a blanket stitched with love—and often a tiny, hand-knitted hat to match. Her work offered more than warmth; it offered reassurance, comfort and the gentle reminder that someone cared.

Her kindness, her selflessness, and her bright, infectious smile left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, Ruth’s spirit lives on in every blanket, every stitch and every child she helped to comfort.

Thank you, Ruth, for your extraordinary heart, your years of service and for showing us how one person can truly make a difference. Your legacy will continue to embrace generations to come.
