We are proud to recognize Dr. Frank and Madelyn Medici for their extraordinary Leadership Gift, which made the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department a reality. Their visionary generosity has enabled the creation of a cutting-edge facility that will revolutionize care for children in our community.

Dr. Medici’s distinguished career in pediatrics has been deeply rooted in serving the Rockland County community. After completing his medical training at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and serving as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, he founded Clarkstown Pediatrics in 1966. Under his leadership, the practice grew to include four locations and ten pediatricians.

As a practicing pediatrician for 25 years, Dr. Medici witnessed a significant gap in pediatric specialty care in Rockland County. Until the early 1980s, children needing emergency or specialized care had to travel to New York City hospitals. Determined to improve healthcare access, Dr. Medici, during his tenure at Nyack Hospital as Director of Pediatrics and later as President and CEO, was instrumental in creating Rockland County’s first dedicated pediatric emergency room, several pediatric subspecialty clinics, a Level II Intermediate Care Nursery and the only in-patient Pediatric Unit in the area.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Medici’s dedication to community service has been unwavering. He has served on the boards of Dominican College, Nyack Hospital, Nyack Hospital Foundation, the United Way of Rockland County and the Rockland Country Club Foundation. His contributions were recognized by Rockland County Executive John Grant in 1990, who declared August 28th as “Frank Medici Day.” Dominican College also awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Science.

The Medici’s Leadership Gift is a testament to their commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare. Their legacy of compassion and generosity will have a lasting impact, ensuring that children in our community receive the urgent medical attention they need in a dedicated, state-of-the-art environment.
