Montefiore Nyack Foundation’s Inaugural Derby Royale: Physicians’ Ball Reimagined was truly a winning event! Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our physicians, grateful patients, community leaders, sponsors and friends, more than 250 guests gathered to celebrate and raise an extraordinary $232,000 in support of Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

The event proudly honored Dr. Carin Shapiro for her outstanding leadership, compassion and unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare and improving the lives of patients throughout our community. Family, friends, colleagues and supporters came together to recognize her remarkable contributions and celebrate her dedication to Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

A special thank you to Cathy Shea, Vice Chair of the Montefiore Nyack Foundation Board, whose visionary leadership and steadfast support helped bring Derby Royale to life. As the member sponsor of this inaugural event, Cathy played an instrumental role in reimagining the traditional Physicians’ Ball and creating a memorable experience that will benefit patients and families for years to come.

As the philanthropic arm of the Hospital, the Montefiore Nyack Foundation secures charitable support that enhances patient care, advances clinical excellence, invests in technology and facilities, and helps ensure exceptional healthcare remains close to home. Since the launch of the Hospital’s $125 million multi-phase Transformation Project, philanthropy has helped support investments that continue to strengthen patient care and transform the Hospital campus.

Most recently, the completion of 5 Maze, following the opening of 4 Maze in 2024, has brought Montefiore Nyack Hospital to approximately 88% private-room occupancy, enhancing patient privacy, dignity, comfort and quality of care.
