Transforming Healthcare at Montefiore Nyack Hospital: A Decade of Progress
Montefiore Nyack Hospital’s Transformation Project is a groundbreaking initiative nearly a decade in the making, designed to redefine the patient experience and elevate healthcare in our community. This endeavor has already delivered remarkable advancements, underscoring our commitment to providing state-of-the-art care close to home.
As part of our Single Bed Patient Room Initiative, we’re also thrilled to announce the completion of the 4 Maze unit renovation. This new unit offers spacious and bright private single-bed rooms and a dedicated and spacious family waiting lounge. This critical enhancement has improved privacy for our patients, increased family space for visitors and created an environment that supports faster recovery and better rest—all vital to greater patient satisfaction and outcomes.
Key milestones achieved through this project include:
- FJ Borelli Family Emergency Department – A modern facility ensuring efficient and compassionate emergency care
- State-of-the-Art Cardiac Catheterization Lab – Enhancing life-saving cardiac interventions
- Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center – Supporting recovery and well-being for cardiac and pulmonary patients
- Ambulatory Surgery Center – Offering high-quality outpatient surgical care
- Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Orthopedic and Spine Center – Delivering world-class care for musculoskeletal conditions
- 4 ½-Story Parking Garage – Improving access and convenience for patients, visitors and staff
Introducing New State-of-the-Art TomoTherapy® Radiation Treatment
This March, we will introduce Accuray TomoTherapy® radiation therapy equipment, a groundbreaking addition that brings a new era of cancer care to Rockland County. TomoTherapy® provides precision radiation treatment, effectively targeting even the most complex cases that can be challenging to address with traditional radiation methods. This innovative technology, the first of its kind in the county, allows for more tailored, effective treatment options for our patients and exemplifies our commitment to bringing state-of-the-art care close to home.
A New Era: Private Patient Rooms
Now, the Transformation Project is embarking on its most transformative phase yet—the conversion of semi-private rooms into private patient rooms. This initiative began in 2024 with the renovation of our 4 Maze unit, which now features all private rooms. Future plans include the opening of additional all-private-room floors and upgrades to critical care and intermediate care nursing units.

- Modern Lobby – A newly designed, patient-centered lobby will provide a more welcoming, comfortable space, enhancing convenience and setting a warm tone for every patient and visitor.
- Upgraded Critical Care and Intermediate Care Nursing Units – Renovating these essential units will improve clinical workflow and foster better collaboration among care teams, ultimately contributing to better outcomes for our patients.
