Volunteer Spotlight: Eric Rao

Rockland native Eric Rao was born in Good Samaritan Hospital and graduated from Suffern High School in 2020.  During his freshman year at NYU, he began volunteering with Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Over the last three years, he has had the opportunity to work in the Hospital’s Hematology Oncology (hem-onc) which is the perfect fit for this biology major. He is ready to begin his senior year and recently started applications for medical school.

Eric describes his volunteer time at Montefiore Nyack Hospital as a great hands-on experience and one that allowed him insight into what it would be like to work in the medical field. “I’ve always felt comfortable here at the hospital. It’s nice to recognize patients by name now when I see them. It feels so good that they know my name now too.”

We are grateful for Eric’s selfless dedication and invaluable contributions as a volunteer at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.  His compassion, enthusiasm and tireless efforts emulate the spirit and compassion found among our best-in-class clinicians. Thank you Eric for your exceptional service! We wish you all the best in what’s ahead!
