Strengthening Partnerships for a Healthier Community: Elected Officials’ Breakfast & Hospital Tour

The Montefiore Nyack Foundation recently had the honor of hosting an Elected Officials’ Breakfast and Hospital Tour, bringing together key community leaders to engage in thoughtful dialogue about the future of healthcare in Rockland County.
The morning began with a productive meeting where we discussed both the challenges and opportunities facing Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Topics included Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, future capital projects and progress on the Hospital’s Transformation Project, which has now entered its next phase—transitioning all semi-private rooms into private rooms to further enhance patient comfort, safety and quality of care.
Following the discussion, our guests were guided through a behind-the-scenes tour of several areas that have already been revitalized through the Transformation Project. These included:
- The FJ Borelli Family Emergency Department
- Cardiac Catheterization Lab
- Ambulatory Surgery Center
- The newest Single-bed Unit on 4 Maze
The event was hosted by Dr. Mark Geller, President & CEO of Montefiore Nyack Hospital; Mark Jacobs, Chair of the Board of Trustees; and Paul Adler, Esq., Chair of the Montefiore Nyack Foundation and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees.
We were privileged to welcome and thank the following elected officials for their time, thoughtful input and continued support:
- Congressman Michael Lawler
- Senator Bill Weber
- NYS Assemblyman Pat Carroll
- Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann
- Stony Point Supervisor Jim Monaghan
- Rockland County Clerk Donna Silberman

A special thank you to Michael Oates, President & CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation, for joining the conversation and sharing his insights.
These meaningful partnerships with our elected leaders are vital to advancing healthcare access and excellence for our entire region. As we continue our work to transform the hospital and improve patient experience, we remain grateful for the leadership and collaboration of those who share our commitment to building a healthier community—together.
