Donor Spotlight: The Late Madlyn Borelli

The Montefiore Nyack Family lost a healthcare champion when Madlyn Borelli passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023. Born and educated in Brooklyn, NY, Madlyn was widely known as a kind, compassionate and gentle lady with a big heart.

Madlyn was survived by her devoted husband, Frank J. Borelli, of 62 years and her two children, Frank Jr. and Rick, their wives, Melissa and Suja, and six grandchildren, Amanda, Riana, Danielle, Trina, Luke and Francesca.

Although she was confined to a wheelchair since a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in her 20s, Madlyn’s faith never wavered. Her continuous strength to overcome her disability and two unrelated bouts of cancer inspired many.

In addition to being a caring mother and grandmother, Madlyn was a committed philanthropist. Her generosity enabled the creation of the Madlyn Borelli Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in 2015. Madlyn recognized the importance of having a center to help patients suffering from MS within the footprint of Hudson Valley.

Her strong faith and desire to help others motivated her to also be a key benefactor to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA, Lackawaxen Ambulance in Pike County, PA, Queen of Peace in Hawley, PA, St. Augustine’s Church in New City, NY, St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY, and the new F. J. Borelli Family Emergency Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

We are thankful to the entire Borelli family for their philanthropic support and volunteerism that has transformed healthcare at Montefiore Nyack Hospital and Rockland County.
