Honoring Dr. Lawrence Simon and Brigitte Simon: A Legacy of Dedication and Care
The Montefiore Nyack Foundation proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest gratitude to Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Simon and his wife, Brigitte Simon, as they retire after decades of extraordinary service at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
Dr. Simon has been a cornerstone of our medical community since 1972, serving as Director of Surgical Services, Medical Director of the Wound Care Center and is twice recognized as Physician of the Year. Throughout his career, he cared for thousands of patients with exceptional skill and compassion, while also mentoring generations of physicians who carry his influence forward in their own practice. We are honored to share that Dr. Simon will continue to lend his expertise to our community by working part-time in Wound Care.
Equally impactful is Brigitte’s unwavering service and leadership. Through her work with the Montefiore Nyack Auxiliary and the hospital gift shop, as well as her dedicated commitment as a member of the Montefiore Nyack Foundation Board, Brigitte enriched the lives of patients, visitors and staff alike. Her professionalism, generosity and kindness leaves lasting imprint on our hospital family.
Together, Dr. Simon and Brigitte are true pillars of Montefiore Nyack—embodying compassion, commitment and excellence in every role they embraced. Their shared devotion to this hospital shaped its culture of care and community, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations.
In honor of Dr. Simon, we have launched the Dr. Lawrence Simon Fund for Surgical Excellence and Patient Care. This fund will support our most vulnerable patients receiving treatment in the Wound Care Center — individuals who often face complex medical and financial challenges. Many procedures, such as skin grafting and advanced wound therapies, are not covered by insurance. The fund will ensure that no patient is denied care because of their inability to pay. It will also help sustain innovation in wound management, staff education, and access to vital supplies and technology that restore dignity and improve quality of life. Any donation you make is deeply appreciated. However, donations of $2,500 or more will be recognized on a Wall of Honor featured on our website and social media, and your name will also be included on a permanent placard in the Wound Care Center, honoring Dr. Simon’s enduring contributions. We will provide ongoing updates on how your generosity continues to help patients in Dr. Simon’s name.

As they embark on this exciting new chapter of retirement, we celebrate their remarkable contributions and wish them joy, good health and cherished time with loved ones.
Thank you, Dr. Simon and Brigitte, for everything you have given to Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Your impact will forever be remembered.
